Mammoet and Conrad recently announced the Demag CC8800-1 crawler crane model with the boom booster kit. The huge model consists of 1,750 individual parts in total. Functionality and details are superior. With its impressive 27-kilogram weight, it is the biggest and heaviest model Conrad ever made. Mammoet delivers the model in two heavy boxes with three layers each. Just two of them mainly contain the boom booster elements. The detailed and clear assembly manual helps to fully assemble the massive model in its impressive boom booster version. The CC8800-1 has a maximum lifting capacity of 1,600 tonnes and a maximum lifting height of 215 meters. The massive undercarriage The massive undercarriage consists of five different parts and is larger than a piece of paper! Two crossbeams are connected with the center section. On both sides, the crawler frames are assembled by using eight massive bolts; one crawler in reality would weigh 90 tonnes. The massive crawlers are coming with spring-actuated travel drives, keeping the track shoes tensioned and easily moving. Each track shoe is connected with small pins. Both top rollers and the 15 bottom rollers on each track frame are fully functional and provide easy traction on the model. Entirely made of zinc, both crawler frames of the model are really massive and heavy. And, each crawler is made of 55 different track shoes. Want to read the rest of the story?
