Matt Weyand, of Festus, Mo., scratch builds some of the largest scale model coal-mining equipment in the world, even though he has never been a miner. “My dad, Dean Weyand, was a dragline operator in the coal mines of southwestern Pennsylvania,” Matt said. “That is what got me interested in large-scale mining equipment, but I’ve never actually dug one ounce of coal from the ground in my life.” Matt works for a company, Ballast Tools Equipment, that builds custom construction equipment for railroads. |
