With the remote, you fire up the engines. The excavator rolls to the pile, where you direct the material-handling grapple you installed to pick up stray paperclips and pile them neatly in one area. Then the front-end loader starts scooping with the bucket, dumping loads into the trailer. Once it’s full, you maneuver the truck back to the paperclip tray and fill it, returning for the next load. Think that’s a couple decades into the future? Wrong. We’re there now.
